Winter at the YMCA in Waltham was the next best thing to hanging out at the pond. The water was certainly warm enough and the company was great. Here are a few pictures from March 14, 2008. Click on any image to see a larger view.
Paddling a Greenland skin on frame qajaq has opened up a wonderful new world to me. The qajaqs are beautiful and the people I've met who paddle them are so willing to share their knowledge and skills. Thanks to all who have opened my eyes to the beauty and enjoyment these qajaqs have to offer. Special thanks to Brian Schulz of Cape Falcon Kayak, who with great humour and patience, taught me to build my first qajaq. Thanks also to Scott Bruce and Fred Randall who have been great friends and paddling buddies. I am grateful to Will and Dan at Walden Pond who graciously offered their time to help me learn to roll a qajaq the right way.
